It’s the final week of June already. This means it is the final week to enjoy our mailing list special of buying the US Indie Bookstore list data file and getting the Canadian Indie Bookstore list for free as well as buying the US Public Library list data file and getting the US Academic Library list free. Speaking of it being the last week of June, this means it’s the last week to submit work to Sky Island Journal Issue 25 and RABBLE REVIEW’s Summer 2023 issue. It also means it’s time to start considering July deadlines. Wordrunner eChapbooks has announced they have extended their submission period for mini prose collections to July 15. Since it is Monday that means it’s a new edition of Lit Mag Covers :: Picks of the Week! This week Editor Denise Hill has selected recent covers of Image, Jabberwock Review, and Hanging Loose. Foglifter Journal continues the San Francisco Bay Area’s tradition of groundbreaking queer and trans writing and emphasizes publishing multi-marginalized voices. The 2023 edition features work by Ash Alpert, Summer Farah, Jennifer V. Nguyen, Ashish Kumar Singh, and more.
Fleas on the Dog Issue 13 “is dedicated to the Ukrainian saviours and the radical activist freedom loving spirits who have been so unjustly silenced by the monstrous machinery of petty, malevolent governments.” Issue 56.2 of Southern Humanities Review features poetry from Malawi, Africa. The 2023 issue of Exposition Review is themed “Lines” and explores connection from a variety of interpretations. Issue 2 of Decolonial Passage is themed “Food, Power, and Powerlessness” with work on topics such as food and cultural heritage, food prep and gender, industrialization of food production, food production and imperialism, and more.
The Courtship of Winds Winter 2023 issue is online and available for your reading pleasure. Find poetry by Paul Rabinowitz, Caroline Maun, Gale Acuff, and Alison Hicks to name a few contributors. The Death of Weinberg: Poems and Stories by Walter Weinschenk is a wide sampling of Weinschenk’s writing, much of which has appeared in print over the course of the last few years. The book is, essentially, a rumination upon life, death, and the search for meaning.
