New Submission Opportunities & Great Literature #118
NewPages Newsletter Featuring 52 Submission Opportunities & Upcoming Events
Spring Break is over for NewPages, but if you are gearing up to take your own still, we have plenty of literature and submission opportunities to keep you busy. Plus, don’t forget to check out our Guide to Indie Bookstores to find a local independent at your travel destination. Our eLitPak newsletter will be hitting your inboxes later this week full of more goodies to enjoy, too. Interested in learning more and possibly participating in an eLitPak? You can learn more here.
Let’s start Monday off right and admire some great cover art, shall we? Editor Denise Hill is back with three new cover recommendations. EVENT’s Issue 52.3 is on fire with “Creatures in the Flames” by Ben von Jagow. Lake Effect’s latest issue sees captivating art by Aidong Ning gracing its cover and design by AJ Noyes. Last, but definitely not least is Hannah Elizabeth’s It Can’t See Me gracing the cover of Luna Station Quarterly’s March 2024 issue. After enjoying the outside of these journals, don’t forget to dive into the innards for more great work to enjoy.
On the Magazine Stand, you can learn more about the latest issues of your favorite (or soon-to-be favorite) literary journals. The Lake’s March 2024 is now available online with works by Arvilla Fee, George Franklin, Lorraine Gibson, David Illich, and more. The Winter 2024 issue of Baltimore Review includes the winners of their winter contests selected by Judge Marion Winik: Eileen Frankel Tomarchio for flash fiction; Sasha Wade for prose poem; and Elizabeth J. Wenger for flash creative nonfiction.
In the Fall 2023 issue of The Iowa Review, readers encounter a broken oven, bad friends, EMTs, a sulking room, breast cancer, claw machines, and more. Come back to the Magazine Stand throughout the week to discover Humana Obscura’s Spring 2024 issue and Blink Ink #55.
Do you have a new book coming out this spring? NewPages now offers sponsored posts on our blog. Plus, we also offer mailing lists for indie bookstores, libraries, and more.
In book news, Aiden Hunt reviews Modern Poetry by acclaimed poet Dianne Seuss. “Seuss engages the imagination with straight talk about modern life as a working-class woman and relates both her lived experience and her complex relationship with her art in poems…”
Come back to the NewPages Blog later this week to enjoy reviews of The English Understand Wool by Helen DeWitt, The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff, and Mister, Mister by Guy Gunaratne.
